The 2026 Ooc Om Boc and Ngo boat-racing programme brings together illuminated river scenes, coordinated rowing and Khmer moon-worship traditions.
Its principal locations are in the Soc Trang area of Can Tho, making this a different journey from an evening around Ninh Kieu Wharf.

Choose the river experience
Water lanterns are scheduled from 19:00 on 21 November on the Maspero River between the C247 and 30/4 bridges, with display continuing through 23 November. Ngo racing begins around midday on 23 November and continues on 24 November at the racing stands in Soc Trang ward. Watching the oars rise together gives children a simple way into the sport: look for timing, rhythm and the effort of keeping a long crew coordinated.
Make room for the ceremonial side
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 20:00 on 22 November at Bach Dang Square in Phu Loi ward. Moon worship follows at 19:00 on 23 November at Khleang Pagoda. The pagoda setting calls for a different manner from cheering beside the racing course. Keep voices low, follow the conduct of worshippers and ask before close-up photography. Children can notice that celebration may include both lively competition and a quieter religious gathering.
Plan around one dated highlight
The core programme runs 21–24 November, but its components have separate places and times. Families with younger children may prefer one highlight and a rest break rather than repeated transfers between riverbank, square and pagoda. Ask about access to the racing stands, viewing arrangements and any charges before making plans. Around water and busy gathering points, agree on a meeting place and keep children within close sight throughout the visit.
