Notice how the stage uses water
Water, light and fireworks create different layers of the production. During a full performance, notice when attention shifts from performers to the wider setting. Afterwards, ask a child which scene would change most if one effect disappeared. That turns scale into something to discuss rather than a series of large images passing too quickly to remember.
Decide what the evening is for
