Da Nang Urban Sketches turns attention towards the artist's small decisions: what stays inside the picture and what is left outside.
Da Nang Urban Sketches at the Fine Arts Museum, 78 Le Duan, runs from 26 August to 15 September 2026 with drawings of urban landscape, architecture and everyday life. Families can look closely at a few works and compare what each person notices, without turning the visit into an art lesson.

Recognise a city through a detail
The themes of landscape, architecture and urban life offer familiar starting points. A drawing need not contain a famous landmark to suggest a city. Choose a work that makes the family stop and ask which detail creates that feeling. Each person may point somewhere different, and that difference is worth hearing rather than correcting.
What is left out matters too
A sketch is a selection, not a map obliged to include everything. Ask whether adding more detail would clarify the story or make it harder to focus. Children need not draw well to have an opinion. Afterwards, describe a remembered street corner or sketch somewhere suitable; this is a family activity, not a class included with the exhibition.
A focused visit on Le Duan
The destination is 78 Le Duan, with the run ending on 15 September. Ask about the intended day's opening hours and photography or indoor-sketching rules. Choose a few works rather than rush through everything. Do not assume materials are supplied if you want to draw; a conversation after leaving can also extend what the family has seen.
