From a print to a straw helmet
The April 2026 programme featured woodblock printing, pottery, mung-bean cakes and straw helmets. Each opens a different subject: reproducing an image, shaping clay, regional food or life during wartime. The straw helmet particularly benefits from explanation, helping children understand why a light, ordinary-looking object could matter to people rather than approaching it only as a craft item to decorate.
Follow one activity from start to finish
If a suitable session is arranged, you could let the child choose a task and ask the guide about its materials and steps. Help with difficult parts rather than completing everything for them. Afterwards, compare the result with something familiar at home. If no session is available, choose a gallery theme instead of trying to recreate every activity shown in an announcement during an independent visit.
